Hardly a day goes
by without some warning of a new virus 'in the wild'. Make no mistake
there are tens of thousands of them out there and at least one of them
is going to affect you sometime.
Why everyone should
follow the following steps…
- Install good anti-virus software
- Update it frequently and regularly
- Run a full virus scan at least weekly.
- Good idea to take a system backup after a clean scan.
- Install a good two-way firewall and configure it carefully.
- Delete temporary files (particularly internet temp files) regularly
(automate)
- Visit Windows Update and download and install all
critical and security patches.
- Run Adaware and/or Spybot regularly and keep
them up-to-date.

Never
open email attachments or click on 'links' in emails from people
you don't know. If you detach an attachment (save it to disk) without
opening it, you can always scan it with your up-to-date virus scanner
before opening.
Never
download free software from dubious websites. Remember most popular
free software contains adware or spyware. Don't join peer-to-peer
file sharing groups. Use MSN Messenger (if you must) with lots of
care and attention.
Know
